Ruthie

Ruthie first experienced taiko while hiking in the Havasupai Indian Reservation. Hearing drums echo through the Grand Canyon was awe-inspiring. The biggest surprise was that the drummers were Japanese. After attending a taiko gathering in Mount Shasta, California, she decided to search for groups locally. After experiencing an energetic Naruwan performance at Liberty Station, she knew she had to get involved. When she joined Naruwan’s community class in late 2012, she was introduced to an exciting and rewarding new form of mental, physical and spiritual exercise. It is truly an honor to be part of this most welcoming, patient, and encouraging taiko family.
